VSA Arts of Idaho, is proud to bring you Henry Butler with the Gene Harris Jazz Festival. Henry Butlers fully accessible performance was on Wednesday April 4th. The music itself was phenomenal. A high energy jazz that wound its way into New Orleans Blues.

This VSA arts of Idaho program is offered in partnership with one of Idaho’s finest performing arts Centers, The Esther Simplot Performing Arts Center is located in the heart of the Cultural District of downtown Boise. The program has expanded since it’s inception to a second site is provided at the Meridian Jump Start program. The long term partnership with Ballet Idaho and the Ballet Idaho Dance Academy has been increasing in levels of cultural access provided over the past years. Initially no children attending Ballet Idaho’s programs had disabilities. Over the years the program has expanded on the ways children with disabilities are included in dance. The New Visions Dance program is a conduit for providing on-going, intensive, hands-on professional development for the Idaho dance community.
In 2004 on the program’s 10th year Ballet Idaho director’s finally agreed children with disabilities should be included in the large dance recital for the entire academy. Over 800 parents attended the recital. This type of slow but steady progress has built a strong programs and partnership.
The program begins In October of 2006 and continues throughout the school year until May of 2007. Trainings will be offered in a variety of locations and times that meet the need of each sites target audience.
