The mission of the MTSS team at the State Department of Education is to:
- Provide organization and support for statewide implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems Support practices as a framework of prevention and school improvement.
- Coordinate delivery of MTSS information, staff development, and technical assistance that will build capacity to carry out and sustain research-based practices.
- To raise student achievement by creating a customer-driven education system that meets the needs of all Idaho students and those who serve them.
The vision and purpose of RTI and MTSS is to be sustained as a revolving door process for all student achievement. The purpose of this model is to show the action that is taking place of a student. For example, a student who is in need of more assistance to learn a concept will climb from Tier I to Tier II. This action will require the student to work through interventions in order to help the student understand a concept. Once the student has gained the knowledge necessary to succeed, the student will slide back down to Tier I to gain further instruction.
