What advice would you give someone who feels overwhelmed by career options?
• Ask another co-worker what to do
• Don’t be afraid
• Find a career that suits the individual
• “Follow the advice of Bob Ross – If all else fails, become an artist, paint happy trees, and call them “Happy Little Accidents”
What advice would you give someone who is interviewing for a job?
• Be confident, smile
• Make eye contact
• Have hope/faith
• Apply online AND walk in with a resume

What would you say to someone who is nervous about entering the workplace?
• “Take it slow. Find jobs that work for you. Take advantage of [the] tools [available]. These will help build confidence.”
• Use resume templates. Some can be found on Indeed and Idaho Department of Labor
• “You might feel stuck but keep going!”
• ”It’ll be difficult and rough but it’ll get smoother and you’ll learn a lot.”
What advice would you give about communicating with supervisors and coworkers?
• Make sure you’re being heard; follow up within a reasonable amount of time
• Make sure you’re actually being heard but not aggressive. “So like follow-up, but not too soon or it’ll come off as nagging”
What advice would you give about asking for help or accommodations?
• “Ask a coworker or supervisor for help. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. It’s scary but be proud that you tried. Their actions are on them. But you still asked for help. Take a deep breath and do it. It’ll be a sense of relief.”
• “Be willing to advocate for yourself. Nothing will be fixed unless you do.”

• ¡De hecho, es posible que seas más rápido que una persona sin discapacidad realizando el mismo trabajo!

• ¡TRABAJO EN EQUIPO!

• Pídele a otro compañero de trabajo que te diga qué hacer
• No tengas miedo

• “Sigue el consejo de Bob Ross: si todo lo demás falla, conviértete en artista, pinta árboles felices y llámalos ‘felices pequeños accidentes’”

¿Qué le dirías a alguien que está nervioso por entrar al mundo laboral?
• “Tómalo con calma. Encuentra trabajos que sean adecuados para ti. Aprovecha las herramientas disponibles. Esto te ayudará a desarrollar confianza.”
• Usa plantillas de currículum. Algunas se pueden encontrar en Indeed y en el Departamento de Trabajo de Idaho.
• “Puede que te sientas estancado, ¡pero sigue adelante!”
• “Será difícil y complicado, pero se volverá más fácil y aprenderás mucho.”
¿Qué consejo darías sobre cómo comunicarse con supervisores y compañeros de trabajo?
• Asegúrate de que te estén escuchando; haz un seguimiento dentro de un tiempo razonable.
• Asegúrate de que realmente te estén escuchando, pero sin ser agresivo. “O sea, haz un seguimiento, pero no demasiado pronto o puede parecer que estás insistiendo demasiado.”
¿Qué consejo darías sobre cómo pedir ayuda o adaptaciones?
• “Pídele ayuda a un compañero de trabajo o a un supervisor. No tengas miedo de pedir ayuda. Da miedo, pero siéntete orgulloso de haberlo intentado. Sus acciones dependen de ellos, pero tú pediste ayuda. Respira profundo y hazlo. Sentirás alivio.”
• “Esté dispuesto a defenderte a ti mismo. Nada se va a arreglar si tú no lo haces.”
