Overview/Position Summary

About the Role

Idaho Parents Unlimited is seeking a dedicated Youth to Adulthood (Y2A) Coordinator to join our team. The Y2A Coordinator will assist families and youth with disabilities as they plan for the future and navigate their journey into adulthood.

A Successful candidate will be involved in developing and enhancing resources and guidance across various domains including Self-Determination/Self-Advocacy, Career Technical Education (CTE), Job Exploration/Career Development, Independent Living, Community Involvement, and Healthcare, alongside their regional teams that consist of a variety of professional partners and stakeholders.

Available Position

North Idaho (Remote)

  • Region: Regions 1 and 2
  • Schedule: Part-time, 15-20 hours/week
  • Work Type: Remote, with some regional travel
  • Travel: Minimum of one trip per year to Boise

Qualifications
Requirements:
  • Proven experience working with youth with disabilities, particularly those in planning for adulthood and/or families who have children and youth with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of Self-Determination/Self-Advocacy, Career Technical Education (CTE), Post-Secondary Education, Job Exploration/Career Development, Independent Living, Community Involvement, and Healthcare.
  • Ability to collaborate with local education agencies, educators, administrators, families, students, businesses, Vocational Rehabilitation, and related services professionals.
  • Excellent organizational, facilitation, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development of guidance documents and resources in Self-Determination/Self-Advocacy, Career Technical Education (CTE), Job Exploration/Career Development, Independent Living, and Healthcare.
  • Participate in and contribute to local and regional interagency teams and meetings.
  • Assist in the development and facilitation of training and resources for local interagency support.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure effective transition planning and services for students with disabilities.
  • Develop, revise, and present training workshops to youth, families, and professional partners. These may be one-to-one or groups, both large and small.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Remote Work Capability: Ability to work effectively from home or any remote location, with reliable internet access and a dedicated workspace.
  • Community Engagement: Proactively make connections and build relationships within the community to support the goals of the program and the needs of youth with disabilities.
  • Self-Initiation: Demonstrate strong self-initiation, taking proactive steps to manage tasks and responsibilities without direct supervision.
  • Remote Collaboration: Work collaboratively with remote Youth to Adulthood coordinators located in the three major regions of Idaho and the full IPUL team based in the Boise office ensuring clear communication and coordination of efforts.
  • Online and Social Media Presence: Maintain a strong and professional online presence, utilizing social media platforms to engage with the community, share resources, and promote program objectives.
  • Tech Proficiency: Tech-savvy with the ability to utilize various digital tools and platforms to enhance work efficiency and program reach.
  • Public Speaking: Possess strong public speaking skills, capable of effectively presenting information and advocating for the program and its beneficiaries in diverse settings.
  • Data Reporting and Writing: Demonstrate excellent skills in data reporting and writing, ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation of program activities and outcomes.
  • Confidentiality: Must understand and adhere to all laws and policies that address the confidentiality of health and educational information as it pertains to the families and youth we serve, data, and Idaho Parents Unlimited.

  • Increased participation and improved access in community involvement and understanding of what independent living can look for each individual.
  • Development of a comprehensive statewide system of support for successful postsecondary outcomes.
  • Ensure families and youth are represented in all aspects of planning and implementation of activities.
