Idaho Parents Unlimited’s Parent Leadership Development offers parents of children with disabilities and/or special health care needs the opportunity to take their experiences, and hone their story into a tool that can influence change, with the hopes for a better community for all and systems that promote progress that are specific to where these families live and potentially statewide.
What is IPUL Parent Leadership Development?
Held once a year in a different regional location in Idaho, Parent Leadership Development is an intense training for parents of children with special health care needs that takes place over 5 days and 4 nights and includes brainstorming, networking, bonding, collaboration, and respite
Graduates will be required to:
- Be willing to be a resource to other parents.
- Participate in follow-up goals and exercises.
- Must complete retreat evaluations.
- May be offered an opportunity to represent IPUL as a Parent Amplifier in your region.

Idaho Parents Unlimited believes in investing in Idaho families. There is no cost to participate.
How long is it?
Monday afternoon through Friday morning
Do I have to stay the whole time?
Yes
Can I participate if I don’t live in the part of the state that PLD is taking place?
Participants are selected primarily based on the location of the annual PLD. Parent Leadership is a regional program with the goal and purpose to develop community leaders based on attendees’ interests and needs, attendees’ community’s needs and to develop key partners in IPUL’s grassroots network of community leaders.
