Parent LINK Statewide Coordinator

Overview/Position Summary

The Parent LINK Statewide Coordinator is a dynamic, relationship-driven role responsible for leading the statewide growth and implementation of the Parent LINK peer mentor program. This person will recruit and train parent mentors, engage and onboard school districts and LEAs as partners, and coordinate connections between mentors and families throughout Idaho. The Coordinator serves as the primary champion for Parent LINK statewide, working collaboratively across IPUL's programs and with
external partners to ensure families have access to meaningful peer support.

About Parent LINK
Parent LINK is IPUL's peer mentor program that connects families of children with disabilities with trained parent mentors who have lived experience navigating special education systems. Mentors provide one-on-one support, help families prepare for IEP meetings, and serve as a trusted bridge between families and schools across Idaho. The Statewide Coordinator will play a central role in growing and sustaining Parent LINK across Idaho's local education agencies (LEAs).

About Idaho Parents Unlimited (IPUL)
Idaho Parents Unlimited (IPUL) is a statewide nonprofit organization and Idaho's federally designated Parent Training and Information (PTI) Center, funded through the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). IPUL is also a federally designated Family to Family Health Information Center (F2F HIC) serving families across Idaho.

Qualifications
Required
  • Degree or equivalent experience in education, social work, or combination of education and lived/professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in program coordination, community outreach, or training facilitation.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders including families, school administrators, and community partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with public speaking and group facilitation.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with standard office technology and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Office/365, Google, etc.).
  • Ability to travel statewide, including some overnight travel. Valid driver's license required.
Preferred
  • Lived experience as a parent or family member of a child or youth with a disability, especially experience navigating the special education system in Idaho.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, IEP processes, and special education.
  • Experience working within or alongside Parent Training and Information Centers, Family to Family Health Information Centers, or similar federally funded family support programs.
  • Fluency in Spanish or another language spoken by Idaho's diverse communities.
  • Experience with grant-funded programs and compliance reporting.
  • Familiarity with peer mentoring or peer support models.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination and Implementation
  • Lead statewide implementation of the Parent LINK peer mentor program, ensuring consistent quality and fidelity across all participating communities.
  • Support promotion and outreach for IPUL training opportunities that serve as pathways into Parent LINK, in collaboration with IPUL program staff.
  • Develop and maintain systems for tracking mentor-family connections, participation data, and program outcomes for grant reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate with IPUL staff to align Parent LINK with IPUL's broader PTI mission and OSEP grant requirements.
  Mentor Recruitment and Training
  • Develop and deliver mentor training using IPUL-approved curriculum, with ongoing coaching and support.
  • Maintain an active mentor roster and match mentors with families based on experience, location, and need.
  • Recruit, screen, and onboard parent mentors across Idaho, prioritizing geographic and demographic diversity.
  • Provide ongoing check-ins and support to active mentors, creating a strong community of practice.
  LEA and District Engagement
  • Recruit districts to partner with Parent LINK, presenting program benefits and the case for sole-source partnership with IPUL as Idaho's PTI center.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for LEA liaisons, supporting collaborative planning and co-promotion of Parent LINK services and IPUL training opportunities.
  • Build and sustain relationships with special education directors, school administrators, and district staff across Idaho's LEAs.
  • Represent IPUL at district meetings, community events, and statewide special education conferences.
  Family and Community Outreach
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to connect families, especially those from underserved communities, rural areas, and families with limited English proficiency, with Parent LINK services.
  • Collaborate with IPUL's communications team to create and distribute program materials, social media content, and email campaigns.
  • Respond to family and community inquiries about Parent LINK and provide warm referrals to appropriate supports.
  Reporting and Compliance
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of program activities, contacts, and outcomes to support OSEP grant reporting.
  • Contribute to grant reports, work plans, and program evaluations as needed.
  • Stay current on IDEA, special education policy, and PTI best practices through ongoing professional development.
